The Garden Café launches summer small plates menu

This August, The Garden Café is introducing a lighter addition to its food offering, with a new seasonal small plates menu designed to be enjoyed on the restaurant’s leafy garden terrace

Created by chefs Harry Kaufman and George Ryle, The Garden Café's new sharing plates menu will be served in the evenings from Friday 10th August, making an excellent prelude to dinner, or a lighter option enjoyed alongside the restaurant’s constantly evolving wine list.

Following the same ethos as the restaurant’s a la carte lunch and dinner menus, the small plates offering will change daily, depending on seasonality and availability of produce. Guests can expect the likes of Rolled pig’s head with clams and chilli, Deep fried quail and artichoke puree, Confit mackerel with potatoes and parsley and Octopus, tomatoes and aioli.

The menu is available to all diners, but is best enjoyed on the restaurant’s secluded garden terrace. Set within the grounds of the deconsecrated church, St-Mary’s-at-Lambeth, the terrace overlooks the 1930s neoclassical Lambeth Bridge and the former churchyard, which has been transformed by renowned gardener Christopher Bradley-Hole into a beautiful leafy enclave, perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun.

The restaurant, headed up by Kaufman and Ryle, has gained critical acclaim since opening in the redeveloped Garden Museum last year. Located within the museum’s beautiful glass and beaten-bronze pavilion building, linked to the Garden Museum by connecting cloisters and framed by two new gardens from leading designers Dan Pearson and Christopher Bradley-Hole, the space creates an inviting sense of being completely immersed in nature, providing the perfect backdrop to enjoy The Garden Café’s seasonal menus.
