On 9th October, chef Aaron Potter and interior stylist Laura Hart, the duo behind Belgravia’s Wildflowers, will open Bar Flor, a new bar above their debut restaurant in Newson’s Yard. Building on the success of Wildflowers in its first year, Bar Flor – “Flor” meaning “flower” in Spanish and also a wine aging term – will act as the restaurant’s playful sibling, showcasing a dynamic, ever-evolving wine list that champions characterful bottles from bold producers and lesser known growers, as well as a carousel of authentic pintxos inspired by the founders’ favourite parts of Spain.
The menu will feature pintxos and tapas from Aaron Potter, designed to pair with a selection of drinks from vermouths and wine to the Adonis (Cocchi Torino vermouth, Manzanilla sherry & orange bitters) and traditional Basque cider. Pintxos include Prawn & Ibérico guanciale, Cantabrian anchovy, Seafood gildas and Blue cheese & salt baked quince. Tapas dishes will include Holiday potatoes ‘bravas’, a re-imagining Wildflowers’ signature side, Mussel escabeche, and a Calamari sandwich, followed by desserts of Basque cheesecake, Almond turron, and Chocolate cremosa with macadamia and olive oil.
Bar Flor’s interiors – created by Laura Hart – will reflect the warm, welcoming spirit of Wildflowers with soft lighting and timber tones, whilst encapsulating the relaxed but vibrant energy of a traditional Basque pintxos bar. A large floral mural from artist Jo Faulkner adorns the walls, giving the space its own irreverent identity, while seating includes a mix of bar, high-top, and banquette options.
Bar Flor will open Wednesday to Saturday evenings and is also available for private hire, with capacity for 80 standing or 20 seated for a feasting-style menu.
