On 1st February 2026, Brasserie Angelica and Gambit Bar will open on Newman Street – the new ventures from London-based hospitality company, Kinsfolk & Co. Set in the heart of Fitzrovia, and residing within The Newman hotel, on the corner of Newman and Goodge Street, Brasserie Angelica will be an elegant all-day dining destination, and directly below it, Gambit Bar will be a dramatic subterranean venue – with both set to become mainstays of the vibrant W1 neighbourhood.
London-based design studio LIND + ALMOND has led the interiors, drawing on Fitzrovia’s history, both spaces feature Victorian and Art Deco influences – designed to take guests seamlessly from early morning coffees through to late night cocktails.
Brasserie Angelica: Brasserie Angelica will be a contemporary all-day brasserie, delivering the energy of its bustling locale. Dishes will be simply yet elegantly presented, showcasing exceptional ingredients from esteemed London suppliers and UK producers. A menu of comforting classics will come from Executive Chef Christian Turner, with generous Northern European influences throughout. Techniques such as curing and smoking will bring a lightness of touch to familiar dishes, including Gravlax with fermented cucumber salad; Västerbotten cheese tart with smoked onion purée and broad beans; and West Coast Salad with shrimp, mussels, crab and mushrooms. Mains such as Sutton Hoo chicken pie with cep cream sauce; Confit duck leg with haricot beans and parsley salad; and Double-tranche of halibut will sit alongside a premium selection of meat and seafood from the wood-fire grill, and sides including Potato and sprat gratin and Leeks vinaigrette. Desserts will range from Crème caramel with toasted brioche to a Blueberry tart with lemon curd, alongside a selection of smaller ‘sweet bites’ – Cardamom bun and Canelé – for a lighter finish.
Brasserie Angelica will seat 100 people, featuring its own dedicated bar area, plus an additional 24 covers available on the street-side terrace for relaxed alfresco moments. A bespoke sandwich trolley
will circulate at lunchtime, offering a quick bite with a side of theatre. Open from breakfast through to late evening, seven days a week, the brasserie will champion warm service and accessible pricing, making it an essential local fixture. For more intimate occasions, the Talland private dining room will welcome up to 20 guests, while Little Talland will seat 12. Both spaces will serve the brasserie’s menu and take their names from Virginia Woolf’s beloved holiday home.
The brasserie’s interiors blend historical references with contemporary design, featuring Art Deco illustrations, Victorian-style joinery, and glass panelling. A monochrome palette and graphic aesthetic pay homage to pioneering local figures, including writer and activist Nancy Cunard. The space also nods to furniture designer Gerald Summers — whose Charlotte Street workshop helped shape the area’s design legacy — through bespoke plywood details and a focus on craftsmanship.
Gambit Bar: Gambit Bar will be a destination in its own right, where guests can steal away for a moment of escapism and enjoy carefully crafted cocktails from The Newman’s Head of Food and Drink, Eder Neto. Inspired by the timeless allure of iconic bars across the globe, the 60-cover bar has been designed as a warm, welcoming space, with attention to detail and heartfelt hospitality at its core. Creative yet understated cocktails will be made using the highest quality ingredients and innovative techniques, with serves including Excitement and Fate, with rum, pineapple, cherry, shiso and sesame; and a reimagined Picante, True Gift, made with tequila, lime, birds eye chillies, blood orange and smoked salt.
Equal attention will be paid to every drinks category, with all signature cocktails available alcohol-free, and a curated selection of London beers on tap, including Two Tribes from King’s Cross and Kernel from Bermondsey. A succinct menu of bar snacks from Executive Chef Christian Turner – including flatbreads, oysters and rullepølse (Danish cold cuts) will pair effortlessly with the drink offering. Gambit Bar will also host a dynamic events programme, from in-house DJs to the regular chess nights inspired by its namesake.
Channeling its neighbourhood’s bohemian legacy, Gambit Bar’s design takes inspiration from artist Percy Wyndham Lewis, who called Fitzrovia home. Founder of the Vorticist movement, Lewis’ style is reflected throughout the space, from the coffered ceiling to the abstract geometry of the burr veneer frontage running the length of the bar – whose living copper top will develop a rich hand-patina over time. Green booths and high-top seating will line the room at either side, creating an intimate setting where guests can linger late into the night, while The Stage at the far end offers a semi-private experience for up to 15 guests.
