Two minutes with... Rachel Chisholm, co-founder of Leftfield

What can people expect from the newly refreshed Leftfield?

There will be more sharing plates (large not small) and a real emphasis on brightness and freshness. We'll also have a larger wine list, with plenty of by the glass choices and a lot more variety across regions and type.

What's the significance of the name 'Leftfield'?

Phil (head chef and co-founder) is a classically trained chef who likes to do bistro classics but always with a slightly left field twist. The site is also physically left of a field, and Phil really liked the band Leftfield. Eventually a pal said just call it Leftfield, and so we did.

What would you say is your signature dish at Leftfield?

Hot seafood platters - always with different ingredients and toppings. The seafood platters holds a special place in our hearts. We kept the business going during lockdown by doing weekly takeaway platters that would be themed ie ‘The Bretagne’, 'The Amalfi’, and ‘The West Coast', and we would pair wines, recommend books and films in keeping with the theme each week to give a whole experience to the guests.
