Two minutes with Kimmy Coke, Head of Comms at StreetSmart

What has been your proudest moment working at StreetSmart?

My proudest moment was visiting a project the StreetSmart money supports which offers a calm, safe space for homeless children who live in tiny hostel rooms and have minimal space to move around or play. This play centre offers plenty of space, including a little garden and lots of toys and books for the children to enjoy. Their parents also have access to a kitchen where they can cook recipes from home as some hotels and hostels have very limited cooking facilities.

What's behind StreetSmart's success?

StreetSmart has been going for over 20 years because the concept is so simple: just £1 on every bill at Christmas. Because we have a sponsor, LandAid, 100% of the money raised goes directly to homeless and vulnerable people who need it.

What are some of the best meals you've had at participating restaurants?

During the most recent campaign, over 600 restaurants took part. I loved the open fire cooking at ACME in Dalston, an insane tasting menu at my local restaurant Crockers in Tring, and a gorgeous team dinner at the Portrait Gallery restaurant with views across London. Next year I would like to visit some of the participating restaurants outside of London, too.
