Two minutes with Declan King, Head Chef at The Clarence
What can guests expect from an evening at The Clarence?
A warm welcome and a generous dose of Scottish hospitality. Our food is comforting but always to an excellent standard - whether it's a big meal or just one plate.
What inspired your menu?
It’s inspired by food that has stood the test of time - classic dishes offered in a bistro and brasserie, or rooted in pubs and country inns. Our dishes are recognisable, generous and comforting with an element of nostalgia. We dry age meat and fish in-house and cook almost everything over fire. We use great produce so we want ingredients to speak for themselves.
We’re at the bar - what signature cocktail should we order?
It would have to be The Clarence espresso martini made with Macallan, or The Clarence Old Fashioned with Glenrothes.
