Situated in the heart of this historic Cotswolds town, the Bull's 18 bedrooms and suites offer a playful, romantic, and hedonistic sanctuary in Oxfordshire. A 15th-century building dating back to 1475, the Grade II listed Bull in Burford became an inn in the 16th century. Its charming blend of styles and eras, a result of centuries of adaptations, provides a unique and inviting atmosphere. Bull was awarded a Michelin Key in October 2025.

From the high street Bull occupies a small, unassuming spot - but therein lie cosy nooks, basement poker dens, three restaurants, two bars and striking artwork in every corner. It offers a rich and varied selection of the county’s most exciting food and drink experiences.

Including:

Wild is Bull’s courtyard, live-fire restaurant from Ben Chamberlain, serving an 11-course tasting menu of super-seasonal British produce around the open fire pit to just 10 guests at a time.

Sl’ice - a napoli pizza and gelato terrace from Michele Pascarella, one of the world’s best pizzaiolos.

Horn is a modern European restaurant at the heart of the hotel from Nicola Scarepelini where British ingredients are cooked and presented through a mediterranean lens.

Drinks come courtesy of Vincent’s - the Inn’s cocktail sanctuary - from Gregory Woods, head Mixologist.

Bull also includes Graze, a stand-alone coffee and infusions bar.

Bull has partnered with Wine Freedom to create a bold, fluid wine list built entirely around organic and biodynamic producers - from pioneering English producers like Davenport and The Heretics to storied vintages. These sit alongside a handpicked cellar of rare and antique bottles from Matthew Freud’s private collection. With formats reaching up to a Salmanazar (the equivalent of twelve standard bottles), the selection showcases Bull’s ability to celebrate both innovation and heritage in equal measure.

Lovingly restored by the Freud family, who reside in the village, Bull opened in 2023. Each room reveals its own quirks with original, sloping floors, uneven ceilings, huge oak beams, and walls that have stood through centuries. Interiors from One Small Studio leaned into two main Japanese philosophies for the redesign: Kintsugi (embracing damage and repairs as part of an object’s history) and Wabi-Sabi (finding beauty in imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete). Original beams were stripped back to reveal their natural oak; the Bull development also uncovered centuries-old Cotswold stone fireplaces, and restored neglected, intricate masonry. Bedrooms use natural linens throughout upholstery and bedding to give a lived-in feel, and rugs were hand-made by a collective of weavers across Morocco. Bathrooms were designed with clean, classic lines, matte finished natural marble tiles; bespoke vanities with matching marble tops; and oak framed mirrors to soften the space. Lighting was kept deliberately low and atmospheric - practical, yet gentle. Throughout, interiors were curated to strike a balance between the calming and the thought-provoking - a fitting backdrop for the eclectic and evocative art collection of Matthew Freud.

Bull also features Zen, a dedicated treatment suite where guests can indulge in a full wellness menu. A team of in-house trained professionals provides a range of massages and facials.
