L.O.R., the hospitality collective supporting women in the food and drink industries, is gearing up for its first International Women’s Day Weekender. The schedule will include a collaborative dinner by the female powerhouses of Liverpool’s restaurant scene, a discussion led by Manchester’s very own Lucy Noone on being a working mum in the hospitality industry, a networking lunch hosted by The Creameries, Manchester, and an opportunity to help London pop-up favourite, Snackbar, get their first bricks and mortar site through a one-off fundraiser brunch.
L.O.R.’s of Liverpool Dinner Party, Thursday 7th March, 7:30pm at Bold Street Coffee
Ahead of International Women’s Day, L.O.R. will host their first Liverpool dinner party at Bold Street Coffee, with the likes of Livia Alarcon of Baltic Bakehouse, Melissa Tran of Vietnom, Lucy Williams of Oktopus and Bold Street’s very own Alison Clare at the pass, plus delicious bread by The Wild Loaf. Amongst those joining them behind the bar will be Karis Griffith from the city’s celebrated Filter & Fox cafe and wine bar and Hannah Bothwell of Polidor 68. As well as giving guests the chance to sample food, drinks and service from some of Liverpool’s brightest talents at one of the city’s most talked about cafes, Bold Street Coffee, the event will also provide an invaluable networking opportunity for women of the city’s thriving hospitality industry.

Baby Talk with Manchester House’s Lucy Noone, Friday 8th March, 9am-10:30am at Dishoom Manchester
Lucy Noone, Business Development Manager at Manchester House, will lead a discussion on the before, during and after of being a working mum in the hospitality industry. Drawing on her own experience of returning to work when her son was just 8 weeks old, Lucy will discuss the trials, tribulations and triumphs of returning to working life with an infant on your arm, and how her own background in the restaurant industry has helped her cope with the demands of motherhood.
Tickets for the panel session cost £5, with all proceeds going to children’s nutrition charity, Magic Breakfast, which provides healthy school breakfasts for children who turn up to school too hungry or malnourished to learn. Tickets can be booked now via www.ladiesofrestaurants.com/events.
Ladies Who Lunch, Friday 8th March, 2:30pm at The Creameries
Join L.O.R. for a female-led feast as Manchester’s The Creameries, the first solo venture from Fat Duck alumni Mary-Ellen McTague, baker Sophie Yeoman and designer Soo Wilkinson, which opened last year after a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign. The event will be a chance for the women of Manchester’s hospitality scene to come together to learn from and encourage each other over some delicious food and drink from the trio.

Snackbar Brunch Fundraiser, Sunday 10th March, 12pm-3pm at The Ace Hotel, Shoreditch
L.O.R. has teamed up with roaming London pop-up favourite, Snackbar, to help them raise the funds to get their first bricks and mortar site. Snackbar, the brainchild of Freddie Janssen and Anaïs Van Manen, is a bright and vibrant neighbourhood restaurant (in the making), with globally inspired breakfast-lunch-brunch fare. Guests at Sunday’s event can expect next-level brunch dishes, games and drinks from the bar at The Rooftop at The Ace Hotel.
