On Monday 1st July, Lasdun - the modern British restaurant from the team behind acclaimed The Marksman Public House - will launch its new summer terrace, giving visitors the chance to enjoy signature seasonal British fare in a new, sun-soaked setting.
From the expansive Southbank terrace at the National Theatre, overlooking the Thames, guests will be able to choose from a light menu that reflects the ethos of the founders, celebrating the best local and seasonal produce, with a contemporary flair. The menu signatures will include a Dorset crab and mayonnaise bun; Treacle-cured Tamworth ham and Lincolnshire Poacher bun; Smoked salmon and cucumber bun, and Goat’s curd, caper and watercress bun.
Accompanying the food menu will be a selection of refreshing serves, such as the Lasdun Summer Cup, which will feature Sipsmith London Cup alongside strawberries, cucumber and mint for an elegant take on the British classic, while an Elderflower Tom Collins will combine gin, lemon and elderflower as a seasonal twist on the much loved cocktail. Classic cocktails including the Lasdun Negroni and Muz Vermouth and Soda will also be available for guests to sip on under the summer sun, alongside a range of English sparkling wines from Nyetimber served both by the bottle and glass.
Lasdun opened at London’s National Theatre in May 2023, from Jon Rotheram, Tom Harris and John Ogier of Hackney’s much-loved The Marksman. Its name a homage to the building’s eminent Modernist architect, Denys Lasdun, the restaurant offers a range of British brasserie-style dishes from its classic dining room. The terrace will be the first time guests are able to sit al fresco, making the most of the restaurant’s prime riverside location for relaxed lunches and aperitivi.
The Lasdun terrace will be directly accessible from the Southbank and will seat 60 people. It will be open Monday to Sunday from 12:00pm until dusk, closing on 22nd September.
