Stevie Parle’s popular Soho pasta joint, Pastaio, has announced the launch of a new restaurant at Westfield London this November. The second branch of the fast-casual pasta and prosecco slushie favourite will bring the high quality dishes Pastaio is known for to west London for the first time, alongside new plates Stevie has developed specifically for the Westfield London site. For example, Pastaio Westfield London will offer the group’s first soft serve ice cream launching with a stracciatella flavour and changing seasonally. The move comes as Westfield London continues to attract independent eateries to become a foodie destination in its own right.
The new restaurant will benefit from two open kitchens (one dedicated to pasta-making), which can be viewed from within the restaurant or at street level. Chefs will be in situ each day making fresh, hand-rolled ravioli. Like the original at Ganton St, interiors are from celebrated designer Tom Dixon, and feature his iconic slab chairs and OPAL pendant lighting. The site will also feature a striking hung staircase, painted electric blue, to take you to the first floor. Similarly, to the site in Soho, Artist Rob Lowe AKA Supermundane has designed a unique and colourful mural inspired by pasta geometries which contrasts against the industrial stainless steel of the kitchen and monochrome terrazzo.
The duplex site, incorporating a covered ground floor, street-side terrace, and a first floor al fresco balcony, seats up to 145 in total. The new site will also incorporate counter-top dining, designed for solo customers to enjoy a quick, inexpensive bite to eat. Situated on Southern Terrace, this is a key location along the main thoroughfare and access to the shopping centre.
The new restaurant will retain Pastaio’s signature sense of fun with an upbeat playlist, bright and energetic interiors, modest prices (pastas from £6 and prosecco slushies from £4.50) and a range of regularly-changing mains, sharing pastas for the table and communal dining. Wines on tap offer customers excellent value, and will continue to be a theme of the drinks list across both sites alongside seasonal slushies, and house-made limoncellos. Pastaio will continue to run regular collaborations and in the past has teamed up with Supermundane and Patty and Bun.
Speaking ahead of the new launch, Stevie says: “We have a perfect location within the Westfield London’s centre and I’m super excited about the fresh new interiors we’ve created. It’s been brilliant to work with Tom Dixon again, who consistently over-delivers for us, and I’ve been busy developing new dishes for this site so it will have its own identity whilst still sitting firmly in the Pastaio family.
“Westfield London feels like a great next step in my mission to bring incredibly high quality fresh pasta with awesome British ingredients to as many people as possible, and we have our eye on joining a few of my favourite London neighbourhoods in the future.”
Keith Mabbett, Director of Leasing for Westfield UK & Italy said: “We are thrilled to welcome Stevie Parle and his now famous fresh pasta to Westfield London as he launches Pastaio at the centre this Autumn. Westfield London has led the way in redefining the food experience inside a shopping destination, bringing new and innovative food experiences to our customers. With 31m visitors each year generating over £1bn in sales, the centre offers a strong launch platform for new and expanding restaurants and we are seeing a trend of independents opening in Westfield centres. Pastaio will be a great addition to the dining offer and will provide visitors with the theatre of freshly made past being created in front of their eyes, as we continue to bring in new and innovative eateries to change the face of shopping centre dining”
