New partnership: YNYSHIR
We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Ynyshir, Gareth Ward's two Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms in Wales. Renowned for its bold, playful approach and a dining experience that breaks away from the formality of the traditional tasting menu, Ynyshir continues to push the boundaries of the UK's culinary scene. We're excited to see what the rest of the year will bring for Gareth and the team.
What's on this month
Templeton Garden, the townhouse hotel in Earl’s Court, has teamed up with the Design Museum for a limited-time stay package, combining a stylish city escape with exhibition tickets. Don't forget to pop into the hotel's bar, Sprout, for playful Wes Anderson–inspired cocktails. Meanwhile, from 20–26 April, som saa celebrates 10 years in Spitalfields with a revival of some special dishes that pay homage to its Climpson's Arch residency roots. What's more, som saa's universally loved Isaan-style deep fried seabass will be available at just £14 for one week only - the same as it was in 2016. Over in Fitzrovia, Michelin-starred The Ninth is celebrating spring with a seasonal chef's choice menu centred around asparagus. From 23 April, the team will be showcasing the beloved ingredient at its peak through refined and considered dishes.
Chef spotlight: Gareth Ward
Gareth Ward, originally from a small village in the North East of England, came to Wales after gaining experience under chefs such as Sat Bains and Aaron Patterson. Employed as head chef of (then) Ynyshir Hall in July 2013, within his first year, Ynyshir regained its Michelin star. Gareth and his partner Amelia have since transformed the former hotel into the restaurant with rooms it is now and 2022 saw the restaurant awarded two Michelin stars.
Ward’s menu is based on Japanese techniques and ingredients with nods to some of his favourite restaurants and dishes from around the world. Throughout the (up to) 30 course menu guests will have abundant opportunities to enjoy the very best produce Ward can source - from the finest A5 female wagyu to locally caught shellfish and the estate’s own birch sap. That alongside the disco ball, inhouse DJ and onsite blacksmith are just some of the reasons Ynyshir is one of the country's most stand out food destinations. That, and the world's best bacon and egg sarnie they serve guests for breakfast.
