The Proof, Hackney's specialist, delivery-only bakery, is launching an afternoon tea package with a twist, showcasing a selection of signature bakes and unique take on the sarnie.
A fresh reinvention of this staple British tradition, The Proof Afternoon Tea, is centred around its signature bake - The Profiterole - with sweet and savoury versions of the retro classic. Generic afternoon tea cakes are replaced by profiteroles in a trio of exciting flavours; classic crème Chantilly and dark chocolate, summery lemon meringue and the timeless, summer-garden-party combo of strawberries and cream. A Classic Afternoon Tea is also available for traditionalists, with a miniature Victoria sponge, chocolate profiterole and lemon meringue tart, alongside a selection of savoury offerings.
Steering clear of the all-too-familiar 'egg mayo' afternoon teas, The Proof has collaborated with some of London's finest producers to offer two unique, artisan sandwich options as part of the offering. Cobble Lane Cured's Coppa Ham and Bresaola and Bait's Salmon Pastrami will be used as sandwich fillings on the rotating menu, inside a mix of choux buns, focaccia and brioche rolls. The Classic Afternoon Tea option will also include scones and clotted cream - because what is afternoon tea without the typical 'what goes first?' debate.
The Proof's afternoon tea is delivered straight to your door in a transportable, pink, tiered cake stand, ready to carry straight to the park for an afternoon tea picnic or for at-home celebrations.
