JOIA Rooftop, the vibrant 74-cover bar and terrace, on the 16th floor of art’otel London Battersea Power Station is now open for a second season of sunshine, small plates and sundowner cocktails.
Following a successful opening year for the art’otel’s 15th floor Portuguese and Iberian restaurant, JOIA, acclaimed chef Henrique Sá Pessoa has created an innovative menu of snacks, tapas and petiscos, to be enjoyed against the sweeping backdrop of the London skyline and with one of JOIA Rooftop’s infamous slushies in hand. Throughout the summer, rooftop revellers will also be treated to a curated programme of menu exclusives, live entertainment and Bank Holiday barbeques, thanks to partnerships with Minerva and Big Green Egg.
Portuguese tinned fish specialists, Minerva, have collaborated on a selection of beautifully wrapped snacks including mackerel and sardines. New additions to the menu and exclusively available at JOIA’s Rooftop will include a selection of Portuguese sandwiches including a Cuttlefishbun served in a squid ink roll with coriander mayonnaise (a headline dish at last year’s Taste of London Food Festival), a traditional Bifana sandwich with marinated Iberico pluma and mustard - a much-loved delicacy in Sá Pessoa’s native Lisbon - as well as and a classic Prego steak sandwich. These are served alongside cheese, charcuterie and signature tapas dishes from the JOIA Restaurant’s menu including Octopus salad with red pepper, potato and smoked paprika and Pan con tomate & Iberico ham. To finish, diners can indulge in a classic Basque cheesecake with quince compote or a refreshing Spiced pineapple with rum syrup and coconut ice cream.
JOIA Rooftop will also welcome Big Green Egg to host a Solicito Sundays series throughout the summer. On each Bank Holiday weekend (5th May, 26th May, 25thAugust), JOIA Rooftop will serve a creative menu cooked exclusively on the Big Green Egg including King prawns with garlic, chilli and parsley, and Vegetable escalivada - a traditional Catalan recipe of roasted vegetables - topped with goat’s cheese as well as specially created sharing cocktails, the perfect ingredients for a sun-drenched afternoon.
Rooftop visitors will also be delighted to see the return of popular serves including the Aventurina, a gin-based cocktail with mint, cucumber and lime, Safira Rosa which mixes tequila, elderflower and grapefruit tonic and Perola, a spritz with Lillet Blanc, rhubarb and Champagne. For those looking for something light, JOIA’s duo of refreshing slushies, Peach daiquiri and Strawberry margarita; combined with a thoughtfully curated selection of Portuguese and Spanish wines from lesser-known producers, will complete the bar menu.
Guests staying at the art’otel can also enjoy full access to JOIA Rooftop’s heated, infinity swimming pool, alongside the JOIA Rooftop bar and terrace.
