Ahead of its tenth anniversary this autumn, LUCA will kickstart celebrations by partnering with British Pullman, a Belmond Train, England, on a one-off journey on Thursday 4th June. The Michelin-starred Italian in Clerkenwell will partner with one of Britain’s most storied trains for an elevated lunch journey through the Kent countryside, complete with a four-course menu and signature LUCA touches throughout.
The journey will bring together two institutions united by a commitment to craft - the timeless art deco glamour of the British Pullman and the resolutely modern Italian cooking that has defined LUCA since it opened in 2016. Starting from London Victoria, guests will enjoy the opulent surroundings of the British Pullman as it travels through the Kent Countryside, turning around once it reaches Dover to return to London.
LUCA’s Robert Chambers has designed a menu which captures the spirit of LUCA where the warmth and generosity of Italian dining meets the finest British produce. The day will start with a drinks reception at Victoria, before guests are welcomed on to the train - where places will be set with unmistakable LUCA touches. Members of the LUCA team - including founders Johnny Smith & Daniel Willis - will share insights into the inspiration behind the dishes, and the restaurant, tableside throughout the day.
The menu will include: LUCA’s signature Roast Orkney scallop with Jerusalem artichoke and nduja, followed by a primi of Salt baked Potato gnocchi, Romana courgette, Mazara prawns & smoked stracciatella. For secondi will be Hebridean cannon of lamb and braised belly, lemon and rosemary polenta, summer caponata and black olive - a dish that marries British ingredients with Italian sensibility. The meal will conclude with LUCA’s much-loved tiramisu alongside chiacchiere - a carnival staple in Italy - before coffee and Amedei chocolate and honeycomb truffles bring the journey to a close. Paired wines, chosen from LUCA’s extensive Italian-focused cellar, will elevate each dish.
On the collaboration, Johnny Smith, co-founder says “We are thrilled to celebrate LUCA’s tenth anniversary year in such a fitting way. The British Pullman is one of those truly iconic British institutions - the kind of setting that makes a meal feel genuinely special. We couldn’t think of a better way to mark a decade of LUCA.”
Tickets are on sale now via Belmond and will start from £545pp to include a four-course menu, round-ticket to Dover and wine pairing. The journey will take place from 10am - 5pm. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
